The Economy of Love
“The Economy of Love”
Incorporeal
susurration
the fleet of mind
gather in the hive
they waltz
their words
across a page
slicing through
the dark of
want and love
holding tight
the hands that write
feverish devotion
drowning in
collaboration’s
enchanted
beguiling
false
romance
Ah where is love?
real love?
wanton love?
like some
white sugary
powder inhaled
sweet intoxicating drug
lips juicy ripe and read
to put all those
written dreams
to bed sonorous, then,
somnolent such is lust,
where minds are spent
and hearts buried
deep from reality,
in dreams are bent
to blend as one
Titania’s eyelids
Nectar whet
juice of Oberon’s
magic flower
Lust is wet
Love is spent
Dark your mind
Eyes that open
What is not your want
The Light has lit
The Economy of Love
Where poets in gilded cages are kept
Suspended and perplexed
Puck’s mistake
Is too perfect

“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.”
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream
