Notes About The Poem

The echo returns not

while rain pummels
the beach at my feet
in the dark of night
silence reigns
it hovers

there's a dance
a tug of war
when hearts beat
to my ear drums
loud as loud can be

thump thump goes
my chest while
ghostly shadows
parade across fields
of poppies and lilies

look out across the seas
your eyes haunt me
on through the night
castaway whispers lost
to the crashing of waves
