Such beautiful imagery John and I love the use of the word 'timbre', it sounds wonderful and it's just a lovely looking word to read. A vivid haiku that I truly enjoyed!

wonderful imagery and I adore that final line - they have something over here called 'worm charming' and they try to emulate rain and see how many worms come out of the ground is a set patch of ground!:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks so much, Jan. The last line jumped into my head first and I wrote the rest to lead up to it. "Worm charming" sounds interesting - do you eat what you catch?! ;) Regards, John.

You present a striking image, John. I'm not sure whether to feel happy for the birds or sorry for the worms! Regards // paul

I always root for the underdog, so I would feel sorry for the worms... but that's just me!! Thanks for the comments! Regards, John.
