The Dying Time

SARAJEVO the dying time
In this the winter of the growing old
and failing of the hearts, a human crime,
as freezing rain falls thru the bitter cold
a welcomed bit of life is dying time.

No more to feel the pain of day to day
explaining to themselves, the misery,
of what the world's allowed to come their way
but time will prove it's what was meant to be;

and if a sniper's aim might bring the end
of any hope still left to call upon,
there's no one who could even comprehend
what's happened to a time that's dead and gone.

    And on the streets their blood will make a stain
    until it's washed away by warmer rain.

Seems the "warmer rain" hasn't washed away the stain. We're still spilling our young men's blood. Congrats on this fine poem being chosen. Love, daver
