The Dying Soldier

The pain hurt so much, Oh, God, let me die quick! I know I have not been the most spiritual person, but please be with me now. Oh, there is another pain, I feel like someone is stabbing me! Forgive me for all my sins, I know I've not been the greatest person. I think I hear someone in the bushes, Oh, Lord, I am so scared! Why are we fighting this war? Was it really necessary? Life is funny if you think about it. We worry so much about the material things, that we forget about you. I am so sorry for that. There, I see him, the one who shot me. He is checking the other men he took down, making sure they are dead. He'll come to me soon and do the same. I think I am ready. The pain does not hurt anymore. I had some good times in this life, didn't I? I will always be grateful for those too. He is over me now. Our eyes are locked into each others. It is like we are reading our souls. He cocks his gun and raises it to my head. I see tears fall from his eyes. He has feelings too. Then his finger pulls back on the trigger...
