The Dream

Within this noonday sultry light The comely springs in constant joy alarms When streams and birds and fields unite To cheer the day with loving charms. Beside the creeks of fragrant flowers Drooping on the mumuring winds of May Gossamers winged in the sober hours When larks had sang their last prayer. There below the weeping tree A thousand ants their troops deployed To swiftly sieze that golden bee When her tender wings destroyed. So sad the day,yet so glad the light Hanging on lustrous grass that glide The lulling winds that takes to flight On lapping waves expanding wide. It brought the distant pollen grains The tulips, the maples, the oaks, the birch And sweet clovers from the island plains On verdant pastures,to lightly perch. How rich the sirens of marriage bells Drawing back on the distant shores Where anchored a ship vacant dwells To greet the ocean as it roars. These holy notes still lingers deep A sweet assault that grace me And when the winds of night would creep Its notes would drift me out to sea. So clear the skies cloaked with night That warmed up my eyes with beam But swifly ends my fair delight For this moment was just a dream.

This is an awesome poem. "It brought the distant pollen grains The tulips, the maples, the oaks, the birch And sweet clovers from the island plains On verdant pastures, to lightly perch."I like the strong symbolism and imagery here. A well written poem.

Dreams can so often not make sense. I guess that's how this poem can take us from a mainland field to an island setting. Your poem was great in it's imagery but the progression didn't make sense. Tulips, Maples, Oaks & Birtch do not mix anywhere. I don't mean to take anything away from this poem because it had beautiful imagery. I still have to give this one a well done. Rockman
