The dream

And we dare dream in spite of the guns trying to kill us
We dare dream lying in our beds of mud late at night
As we watch the moon unfeeling at the sight of our pain
We dream of flowers and birds singing laughter love and friends
Why do we the lost men dare to dream of these reminders of home
As if we could still hope in tomorrows that will never come
Hope in a sun that won't shine through a fog of death
Yes we dare give ourselves one last dream
Before darkness everlasting falls on our lives

Inspired by reading of WW1 soldiers in trenches
