The Dreaded Disease, Why Take a Chance

Alcoholism
In almost every family
Causes homes to break up
Causes children to worry,

Alcoholism
It will not happen to me
But sometimes it does
And it does it in a hurry

Alcoholism
The dreaded disease
Affects the whole family
And it does so in a fury

Alcoholism
Takes your body and mind
It has not killed you yet,
But it got your Uncle Murray

Alcoholism
Why take a chance?
Why take that first drink?
Your goals you want to bury?

I've seen the devastation at first hand - and the effect isn't only on the addict but the whole family:-( I rarely drink alcohol, I much prefer a soft drink or a cuppa these days!:-) hugs jan xx

I used to have a sip or two, but then I started throwing up alcohol. I think it's psychosomatic, but I have seen so many sad children due to this horrible disease.
