The Doldrums

coming in like a tidal wave over the knoll they do not ask if the time is right to tear up your life into miniscule pieces (broken like a pane of glass slamming down on cement, having fallen from a few stories up)--- instead they visit when you think life has finally brought you peace--- they infest, like termites burrowed in a once thought old & comfy house, they sear like burn wounds & they stick around for what seems like an eon--- yet, like with everything, there is a way to turn the tables, a way to spit on these dark times, a way to thump these storms with a 2 x 4 until they are dead in the water. laugh when they come, laugh in spite of them & laugh even louder when they leave--- better to surf the wave than to drown in it.

Words to ponder. I can relate to this...especially right now. A dear family friend died yesterday, aged just 36. He leaves a wife and 18-month old son. So sad, but life is sad sometimes. We have to go on, but I think my doldrums may last a little while.
