the dog will get it

dead June bug on floor
brown, round, shiny
the dog will get it, I thought
I can practically hear his teeth crushing it
munch munch munch crunch crunch crunch
Prelude to his dog foot duck meat lunch
dog walks in and out, without noticing the June bug
Two or three times
In some ways dogs are like snakes
They like to eat prey they have played with and teased.
This June bug is not in playing mode
