The Distance Between Us

My life,
   My blood,
       My spirit –
           All flow within you.

Not just today,
    Or yesterday,
        Or eons before,
             But always.

Through this life,
     Or the next,
         You will always
              Know and feel my presence
                 Beside you,
                     Inside you,
                           To guide you.

My strength
      Will rise inside you
           When you are weak,
               When you are afraid,
                    When you are in doubt
                          Of your own self.

You cannot travel
      To any plain
            That I cannot
                  See you,
                       Feel you,
                            Wrap my love around you.

You will feel my presence
  In a familiar song,
In an old phrase you’ve heard me utter,
In an air of gardenia that I once wore.

Through life and death,
   Or heaven’s domain,
        I will always
           Be a part of you,
And you a part of me.

I will always be beside you,
      Inside you,
           To guide you
                In this life
                      And the next…
