The Disappearing Vision

On the coldest night that I can remember I sat by the fire and stared at the embers. Within the dancing loveliness I saw A mystic dance that can charm us all. Ancient beings twirled round and round As the new king was being crowned. Around him sang the birds and fairies On his head a crown of thistle and berries. His eyes shone bright with an ecstatic smile For he knew that peace would last awhile. A breath of wind blew through the door And I didn’t see the king anymore. Was it an ancient memory that I had seen? Or maybe just another worldly being.

This reminds me of an Irish song by Mary Black called Adam's at the Window. Like the song, I feel your poem captures the atmosphere perfectly.
