Tiger lily                                                          Cana lily

From deep inside me there wells up the desire I can feel a poem coming into my mind It escapes the ruts so deeply grooved in my brain It wants to be written down for others to read Then some noise, some person, or Hairy Demand attention or answers or food The desire floats down, down to the bottom There it lies in the rut being trampled by what? The needs of others, life in general, fatigue Oh! The fatigue, I hate it, but life is better than giving up I would desire the energy of youth but my heart Would play out sooner, but maybe a shorter life well lived? I don't know only God knows what is best for me I will let him decide when it is my time to go In the time left here I will write about what I know A brown thrasher or whip-poor-will or the dove's coo Maybe a spider on my window sill Or the tiger lilies reaching higher and higher Seeking the sun so they can open up their blossoms Of beautiful orange and draw hummingbirds, butterflies Just outside my kitchen view there are those beauties Like the lilies and I can think of haiku Sonnets and sometimes you Each one of you my poet friends

Hi Sara, I really enjoyed what you wrote about how you get an idea for a poem. I can relate to what you wrote; ideas for a poem come, and BAM life happens. If you didn't jot it down, it's lost. Inspiration for poems comes in various ways; nature can be an inspiration for so many poems. I enjoyed the read. I liked this a lot. Have a great day:-) Alexis

Regina, Thanks for your visit. I appreciate the kind review. God does give us the words because if they didn't come from Him, I would be blank. Sara

I always take a nap after my noon lunch and occasionally I start composing a poem knowing full well that it will be gone ass soon as I fall asleep. Loved your poem. Hugs.

Victor, My husband sleeps like that a good bit. He needs one of those naps everyday but of course, he doesn't compose poems. LOL..I hope some of those works will resurface for you to share with us. You need a notebook next to your chair and jot the ideas down then as you awake refreshed you can finish it. Thanks for dropping by. Sara
