The Deserted Desert

The  barren brown  desert, 
Seemingly  empty of life, 
Soap  trees  staring  silently at  the  sun, 
Everything  smells  burned  and  blasted. 

“Satan’s  solarium”  people say it  is, 
My  tongue  is swollen due  to  lack  of  water, 
My  dehydrated  liver shutting  down, 
My  skin  feels  scraped  by  sandpaper, 

The  remains  of the  camp  fire, 
Is  the  only  evidence  of  past  habitation, 
Getting  separated  from  my team, 
Was  the  last  thing  I  wished,
