The Desert

The desert is my favorite place
As far as I can see
For creatures that we can't replace
For Joshua the tree

The challenge is survival
In living every day
The song of their revival
Is constantly in play

I love the vegetation
The cactus and the sage
For quiet contemplation
For acting half my age

I like to sit and listen
To hear the desert call
Or watch the distance glisten
For no one there at all

I'm grateful for the grandeur
For blue skies up above
The desert is my pasture
The home I truly love.
