The Demon at the Door

There is a demon at your heart’s door,
He’s been around since days of yore.
His goal is to become your kin,
And corrupt your life from within.

He is a liar and a thief,
Don’t let him in, he’ll bring you grief.
He promises to give you joy,
But alas! your life he’ll destroy.

Our forebears listened to his voice
and crassly made a careless choice.
Because of this, we have within
a strong propensity to sin.

When the demon his weapons wield,
The choice is yours, resist or yield.
You are not left to fight alone,
Your helper hails from heaven’s throne.
