The Deadly Venom Sleep

The deadly venom
  crept through my veins
The world started to drain away
  I laid there going insane

Insane was my thought of the ones I would lose
Crying out for my loved ones
If I could chose
All the different things I would do

Sub coming to the poison in my body
feeling my body rotting from the inside
My mind couldn't understand I was dying
  My soul inside crying

I closed my eyes
  without saying goodbye
in hopes that my soul would rise
 Returning to grace
Where I would gain
the acceptance of the one who called me sane

Drifting down into a deeper sleep
  Where I heard him speak
Peace be still
At that moment I could feel
the peace and serenity most seeks
When I fell into the deadly venom sleep

This has a hopeless feel.

April, this leaves open the troubling question....what is/was the deadly venom to bring on such sleep? Intriguing write as it brings us to the edge and seemingly denies us a look into the pit.
