The Days Walk On Beside Me
Look away world
for I belong to all the nameless faces;
we live now in the background
of long faded paintings.
Look away you blatant sun
I travel now behind a shadow throng
of the distant disconnected
for we have chosen
to be both apart and together.
Look away you Spanish ladies
the angels have my eyes now,
they delight in being hidden
within thin garments of
sensual disguise.
For my eyes have seen the glory
of the dying;
they have joined me
for yet awhile,
they look away from any endings,
for they have beheld the beyond
they have sighted the new ones coming;
clear of eye,
bold and blithe are these spirits
they walk upon the waters
of that last river,
and cross not.
