The Days Uncertainties

The Days Uncertainties

The day before
Before mortality
occupied uncertainties
The day before
the weeping
before clay and rubber boot
or spring rain worn
on sallow backs
The day before
the bowing as brothers
on the alter of the world
Once sat as clams
in the womb
Well they curled
between dark
and temporary light
In the company of living hope
loves, empty delights
Imagination drifts and drifts
while breathing laboured,
slowly slowly slower
still
the day
before he died
