Our days are filled with laughter and joy
Nights consumed with passionate desire
No reasons to hide in disguise as coy
In the throes of love we gladly conspire
No trace of loneliness we once knew
and no memories of the days before you

Lin, this raises a very interesting question. To what degree can happiness erase anything that has come before? There's something profound here that makes my inner self smile. It doesn't hurt to be grateful for what we have and to change our relationship to previous unpleasantness or whatever we felt prior to that which seems much better. This poem contains a lot of therapeutic value. I've always thought that thoughts of envy and other negative feelings that come from the past tend to reflect current unhappiness. Those intrusions are a barometric pressure gauge of sorts.

I can always tell you give a poem a lot of thought before you form your comments, Duke. Writing has always been a source of self-therapy for me. Thinking about past experiences can offer more anguish, but I've found that putting it in words and even sharing it with people who appreciate poetry is much more cathartic.
