The Day the Sun Died

I saw the sun, As it brought a new morn. I went to school, Even though I was totally worn. Laughing and joking, With my friends that day, We were just trying to make our way. I heard those sounds, But they couldn't be found. I was called to the office, Walking, yet I was cautious. I kept my feelings in play, Seems like all day. We all heard the sounds, As we walked and made the rounds. Looking up at the sun, I jumped, hearing the gun, All I wanted to do was run. I saw the sky, Then I asked myself, "Oh, why?" I heard the screaming, Was I dreaming? I look up, squinting my eyes, Then I realize all my why's. I saw the sun flare, Then I hid from the glare. We all heard the sounds, Then we realized what we had found. The sun was trying to tell us, That we need to stop ourselves and discuss, That the earth is dying, We should be trying, Stop Denying and, Continue striving. Did we fear we would be denied? I cried the day we almost died. The sun smiled, looking back, Saying this, in fact, It is only a warning. Relax and greet tomorrow with a beautiful morning.
