The Day My Friends Went Insane

They were my gentile friends, ones I could count on They stood by me when times were tough A pep talk here, a couch to sleep on there They kept me from falling through cracks Year after year, we shared the cheers and the tears Patient as saints, they helped me conquer my fears… Until October 7, ’23, the day 1,200 of my Jewish brethren were slain They felt I was to blame ~ though it was they’d gone insane ____________________________________________________ On October 7, 2023, Hamas radicals and 'ordinary Palestinians,' along with some UNRWA workers, murdered 1,200 people in Is- rael, almost all of them Jews. (A significant number of Israelis were raped and burned alive as well.) Hamas also took about 240 people hostage. About 50 of those hostages are still be- ing held in captivity by Hamas today, over 600 days later. P.S. How can I, who have lived in Chicago since 1979, be to blame for Hamas/Palestinians murdering, raping, burn- ing and kidnappings Israelis on October 7, 2023?!

It's my fault the blacks were slaves though I wasn't even born yet. How profound this is, I feel it on so many levels, mostly I feel it for you, I feel your outrage and despair at the injustice / stupidity on every level. Why doesn't this #@$&% stop? Are u speaking w/ me? Mad at my Gemini BD comments I left on 1 of your poems? See, if you're put out w/ me, it's my fault. Smile for me ... CayCay (u didn't smile!)

So horrible! I have tears! I stand with you, my friend! I and I know you love all people and also our eyes are open to an atrocity. I believe I told you i had a vision that day! I was in my friend’s church, praising the Lord. I saw and felt baby Jesus in my arms, then he turned into Jesus off the cross. Later I heard what happened and for me it was very clear.

such poignant, gut wrenching words and thoughts. I think many of us felt we were to blame for allowing the world to come to such brutality. Yellow Rose
