The Day He Left

There he lay
silently sleeping
while angels unseen
kept vigil, waiting
his transparent skin
eyes closed to the world
the only sound
the gentle rhythm of machines
Then silence
all that he had been
was no more
all his hopes and dreams
forgotten
there he lay-empty
for the angels had led him away.

That is the lot of us mortals. When presented like this dearest, Julie, no fear of dying lingers anymore in one's heart. Hugs xxx
