The Day After Your Birthday
Here is an apology I wish to convey.
I am so sorry I missed your birthday.
It is that day that comes once a year.
This day you always hold so dear.
If you are wondering why I was not here,
something came up and I left town.
I forgot about it, and I feel like a clown.
Well, I am a day late as you can see.
I hope you don’t hold it against me.
At a restaurant, there are reservations I can make.
We can have a dinner capped off with a birthday cake.
I know it will not be much of a party,
but we can have a good time just you and me.
