The Day After [for; H.F.]

the day after
the landlord
asked me

do you want the crap that was on the floor
the tapedeck
and the tape

sure

i said

when i got it back
and
laid
it
out

there was a pretty
girl
in
her lantern
glowing
red
and
blue

some
scumbled
notes
book
maybe
white glue
obscuring
drying
clear
in
real time

and
a
great
brown
scarred
with
white
ghostly
sketched
canvas

the last entry
on
the
tape:

".. tonight, he said:' pause...i am going to make my Matisse tonight.........

unfinished
