With joyous spirit we 
   prepare for Christmas time;
fill up our shopping carts
   for friends and family,
with perfect gifts that seemed
   to be the ones they'd like,
to give on Christmas Day, 
   with festive love and glee.

Next day- on long lines, spanned
   in stores and shopping malls,
so many of them wait
   with bags of gifts in hand.
And presents that we deemed 
   to be the perfect ones
will now fill carts at the 
   'returns/exchanges' stand.

Yes, that is a mainstay. For often its quite hard to pick a gift that a person truly wants and will keep! Tis why I let my wife chooooooose ! I read this fine poem to my wife and she noted my comment was right on... MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS!
