The Darkness Comes

The sun is setting is it allready that time?
tonight it won't happen I'm going to be fine.

Switch on the light and padlock the door,
but the bulb starts to flicker til the light is no more.

Footsteps get louder until a deafining thud!
I'll get under the covers, I think that I should.

The loud heavy breathing that horrible smell,
who would believe me? who could I tell?

Dear God please protect me, I pray keep me safe,
my covers my shield. my sword is my faith.

I think happy thoughts as I twiddle my thumbs,
must I always endure this when the darkness comes?
