The Darkest Hour

there can never be a darkest hour
it last for days and days

fear and depressions have their powers
lingering too long with pangs

when stroke of death takes away
the thing you love the most

the hours seem unending
searching for some form of ghost

"is it real?" defending
fighting off the blues

"Can this be?" pretending
it could'nt happen to you

but in that darkest hour
when you finally face the truth

you've lost the thing you loved the most
and there is nothing that you can do

Losing the one you love must be a devastating experience. Trying to find a replacement that measures up to what you had can be disappointing. Sometimes we need to wipe the slate before trying to start over.A sad but interesting write!

Somethings are irreplaceable and true love is one of them.

Improvement, will keep the darkness away for some.. Some will never be found after a certain love has ~gone~ We can pretend and move on, but the emptyness will never be filled.. Not even falling in love all over again.. All it does it delays the blues.. and puts the depression on hold.. enjoyed your poem*luv~skat

Hi TS. In that dark place there is no time, no joy, no hope. Very well expressed journey into that chasm of despair. eamon

I know and feel loss today, some do not truly understand, close their mind, in fear sometimes assuming evils, when one refuses to love and care, because of indifference, it is an err of judgment, and not holy discernment. I could relate to your verse here today. May we each walk with a candle, the light, the flame is the same. God bless, Lucinda

Hi T.S. Thanks for the visit. Great deep look at loss. Only when we realise,' you've lost the thing you loved the most and there is nothing that you can do'; can one get on with life. Really liked this. Don't know if its meant but check spelling of first word. To you, regards, Eamon

Sometimes it is too late for some to appreciate what they had ....I hope that everyone can appreciate their loved ones and value them for who and what they are..Your presence at my work brightened my eve..Sara

How true that we experience many dark periods as we grieve -- it never lasts just an hour. But that darkest hour does come when we realize there is nothing we can do to restore loved ones to our lives. T.S., yesterday was the second anniversary of my father's death and I had to come to terms with this loss. I can only hope to see him again in heaven. An insightful poem to which I can relate. Love, Carolyn
