The Dark

I spent some time in the dark.
Couldn’t see my body or my mark.
Listened to the quiet of life.
Found a space in which I could survive.

I saw images of my past.
Recalled lost feelings I’d had.
Listened to nothing but my mind.
Didn’t go there to find.

I spent some time with me.
No one or nothing I could see.
Felt comfort from nothing at all.
Found my own space in which to fall.

Felt the strength and power of my life.
Where light was no where to find.
Heard my mind try to resist.
Memories of pain that persist.

Found space I’d struggled to find.
Darkness where I could unleash my mind.
Set it free where it could burn not spark.

I spent some time in the dark.
