The Damage Done

Her little world shattered
Dollies made of paper
Heart and soul tattered
Feelings turned to vapor

A life now a wreck
Brings innocence lost
With love not a speck
Just hatred the cost

Alone on a sea
Of guilt-laden woe
No longer carefree
It won't let her go

Damaged goods here
Childhood's been taken
Forcing out a numb tear
She just feels forsaken

Deb, it sounds like you are describing a child whose "innocense" was compromised by abuse. Surely, such a child will never again life carefree and carry undeserved feelings of guild with her forever. Such a heartfelt poem. Love, Carolyn
