The Course of a Poem

A pencil, a notebook,
A random reflection
Determine the course
Of a poem, its direction.

The words hop on board
Heading hither and yonder
While thoughts make decisions
To settle or wander.

Ideas tumble down
Joining rhythm in moving
As verses flesh out,
Sometimes dancing and grooving.

The final result, whether
Failed or successful,
Is like an elixir
For soothing the stressful.

Joining rhythm in moving. Like the title of one of your latest poems. That's the ticket. :)

This is how we do ours too! "Ideas tumble down Joining rhythm in moving As verses flesh out, Sometimes dancing and grooving." Trixie is grooving to this!

Your poet’s mind has explained the creative process of word play well Ilene.

So true, Ilene. I am often amazed at where one small line or one word can go. Sometimes my results are less than pleasing, but I don't carry the weight around in my brain! Good writing, as always.

Its certainly rewarding to see your finished poem, a bit of polishing up here and there, read to yourself a couple of times then submit and give yourself a pat on the back. Hope your weekend is going well Ilene. Tom
