Montgomery, Alabama, deep south,
a black woman's told to give up her seat.
A white passenger demanded she stand;
she said no; the moment was bittersweet.
The blatant bigotry she confronted
jailed her for civil disobedience.
But black commuters rallied around her;
and would not cower in obedience.
Boycotting the bus for over a year,
the blacks in Montgomery chose to walk.
And, when their revenues started dwindling;
whites knew blacks had them in a hammerlock.
Rosa Parks found the courage to say no;
she's a hero, as far as heroes go.
