The County Fair

With cotton candy Pink and dandy, Funnel cakes, sweet All you can eat A Ferris wheel To make you squeal, The carousel Sure looks swell Toss a ring To win something, Pop a balloon You'll get it soon Try to get that prize Go for the biggest size, Win a pet if you wish Take home a goldfish Stay there all night For every sound and sight, Like a kid again, be So much to do and see Show off what you do Win a ribbon, blue, Shower what you raise With the highest praise Craft and quilt By hands built, Goodness canned Grown on the land Pumpkins and pies To delight the eyes, Each cow and pig The biggest of the big Farmer's best on display Sat in a pile of hay, Take in the dairy air At the county fair!

Oh, oh, I want to go. You describe the fair so perfectly. When I lived in Vermont we went to the State fair each year. This sensory filled poem brought me back there and made me want to go again so badly. My son read it w/me and began to remember his favorite times there, this being the ring toss, he heard your second stanza. I could read your poems all day ( Do you remember the rat in Charlotte's Web ? His favorite time was when the fair closed and the crowds were gone). Rat paradise!!

Thank you for the kind words, as always. I appreciate it very much, Marikate... I'm glad your son enjoyed my poem as much as you did :) My class read 'Charlotte's Web' years ago, I must go back and read it once again :)

Going to the North Georgia Fair soon with the grands. Two other grands, we brought last month to the Minnesota State Fair which was huge. The rides were fun for the boys and we checked out the livestock too. A welcome write!

Awwn such heartwarming, magical and ethereal descriptions here.. I almost felt like elevated to a different fairytale realm.. Reliving the childish innocence and sweet symphonies.. You're so talented dear, I truly love this so much!
