The Country's In The Very Best Of Hands

The purpose of authority is to remain in authority, not to dispense justice. (Anonymous) There are lofty careers such as chef or physician, But none is so low as a politician. We vote to send them to D.C. to represent us, But once they take office they start to resent us, And retaining the job is their only ambition. We've a two-party system, supposedly better than one, But they're constantly bickering and little gets done. Each session is rife with innuendo, and slander, And pure diatribe, and, of course, gerrymander, But when they vote to raise their pay, they pull as one. Republicans and Democrats by name, Self-promotion and duplicity their game. What a politician says is proving He's lying if his lips are moving, But we elect them, so we've just ourselves to blame. Trump soon will start his reign again, but here's the thing, This country needs a leader, not a king. Kamala mightn't have been much better, But would've tried harder if we'd let her, And she wouldn't treat the job as just a fling. Now Republicans are thrilled because they won, But the uphill fight for them has just begun. What they seem to disremember, All power to them is not surrendered. No matter what they may propose, The Dems will stubbornly oppose, And they'll find themselves back where they were… Square one… And both Houses work the hardest When they're getting nothing done. This country needs a captain Who can steer the ship of state. Let's hope that…somehow…Trump will beat the odds And not continue second rate. For the next four years, I guess, We'll have to bide our time and wait For him to tweet us just exactly where he stands, And that the country's in the very best of hands.

Both parties are for crap. An independent can never win. The Dems caused a good man RFK Jr to have to leave the race. Since he went to Trump's side, I had to vote that way since JFK will at least try to straighten out the health mess we are in and a crooked FDA. If Dems want to win, they need to nominate a candidate who can come up with real solutions and not offer more Biden crap. America was forced to vote how they did because nothing better was offered by the Dems.

The Internet and mainstream media lie about him. He is so intelligent and armed with researched evidence on dangers of vaccines that nobody cares to debate him. He even won a lawsuit for a little girl who was horribly injured by a vaccination. The corrupt company lied about contents of this vaccine. My daughter and I saw a huge change of her son when he was given too many vaccinations all at once at age 2. This kind of thing was not done when I was a child ; increasing childhood vaccinations from 8 of them up to 70 within a few decades 'is unjustified.

Thanks, Andrea. I appreciate your views, but I couldn't agree less about RFK.

Thanks, S O...but I cannot believe that "everybody" wanted him to be President at the end of any day.

Jim this was a fair assessment of the state we are in. I really honestly do not trust any politician. I have core Christian values and to me life matters and my loyalty to my Holy father is most important not these political clowns that lie, cheat, can't answer one question reasonably. or hide their mental challenges. I also ask my self were we better off when they were in office. I think Trump gets the job done but he has quite an ego and people dislike that kind of a person. Being Pompous doesn't help his image. I wanted Robert Kennedy but he joined Trump so Trump it was. We will have

Thanks, Michael. I disagree, however, about Trump getting "the job done". In his first term, I don't believe he spent one single second getting "the job done"...and I gave him the benefit of the doubt then. Not this time.

to see what's in our future. I hope for the best. The American people have spoken and we are all in this ride together. Thank you for writing in a neutral manner. Much credit to you my friend. Thanks for sharing...PS love what you said about them all agreeing to give themselves a raise lol so true and it shows how selfish they are for what matters to them but screw voting in favor of ideas that would benefit All Americans. Great point you made...

An excellent poem, Jim, but I am not yet ready to be at all optimistic. I’m angry, sad and frightened in equal measure (maybe a bit more on the angry side, if I’m being honest). Yes, politicians are not to be trusted, but some are a lot worse than others and I’m pretty sure we’ll be faced with the worst of the bunch in the next 4 years. I hope we can survive it…

What choice do we have? Thanks, Ilene.

It would help if politicians stopped their bickering and all pulled together, which will never happen.

Not in this lifetime...or the next four years. Thanks, John.
