The Cost
The cost
of loving you
has been very high
and will be for some time to come
as we weave in and out
of each other’s lives.
I loved seeing you today,
it calmed me, removed my fears
and made me feel whole.
During our times together
it costs me nothing
to touch you and care for you
instead paying me back over and over.
But upon leaving you
the high cost of separation comes due
and I pay with tears, fears, doubts
and uncertainties,
this cycle repeating over and over.
It’s amazing how my heart
gets torn and worn out,
but mends itself later
so I can keep on loving you.
Only God is capable of repairing
my heart so many times
over the last 35 years.
I am so thankful it’s even possible,
otherwise, I don’t think
I’d be alive now,
nor would our love
still be allowed to bind us together
even when we’re not.
For I have loved you
across time and distance
and I pray for our lives
to become one
and the distance between us
to be none.
I will pay any cost to love you.
Some day I’ll find out
if you’re willing to pay the price
to just be with me
so we can love and be together
for the rest of our lives.
