The Continuous Lie

I can say that I listen.
I really listen
and I do it in a beautiful simple way...

and always, always know
just what to say,
but for some reason
                   I don't.

A conundrum well described. If one speaks from the heart you worry that to reply exposes you to being seen as weak or not really hearing what was said. There are so many deterrents. I say, say it the repercussions are not as bad as living with if onlys.
