The Confused Phase

The Confused Phase --------------- My definition of love The happy kind Was just an illusion Created by mind There is no happy ever after Not in this life Only the fairy tales Which are nothing but lies. You are tempted to believe That flowers bloom for you The birds sing for you Wind blows for you When you are happy, Everything looks new Bright and shiny Even the worst day feels full of hope Happiness in the heart A spring on your steps A smile on your face A lightness of burden The same old boring life Seems more interesting A life worth living With the addition of a liitle love When you believe in Love You feel your heart is whole again You are a new person Whom nobody can defeat The little warmth of love Spreads like a glow Till it lights up your face And every little thing you do You long for the closeness Talking about nothing and everything Or just staying quietly lost in dreams Walking on clouds, every step a bounce The friendship is very dear And with that a little care Few tender words A loving embrace. Small gestures of love Goes a long way To make the knees go weak And the heart beat a rhythm of love. Suddenly the lightning strikes And in that harsh light The worst nightmares come true Destroying the illusion. Reality intrudes the dream Responsibilities, pulling us back Tying our feet Not able to move forward Heart longs to love But something stops it The reminder that Our life is not ours. We travel through an endless tunnel Dark and scary - all alone Carrying the burden of life Without any support Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? I can hope, cant I? That is what pushes me forward That hope and my love. By Kavitha Menon
