Notes About The Poem

"THEN SHALL THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN BE LIKENED UNTO TEN VIRGINS WHICH TOOK THEIR LAMPS AND WENT FORTH TO MEET THE BRIDE GROOM AND FIVE OF THEM WERE WISE AND TOOK OIL IN THEIR LAMPS AND FIVE OF THEM WERE FOOLISH AND TOOK THEIR LAMPS BUT NO OIL WITH THEM AND WHILE THE BRIDE GROOM TARRIED THEY ALL SLUMBERED. AT MIDNIGHT A CRY WAS MADE, ' BEHOLD, THE BRIDE GROOM COMETH! GO YE OUT TO MEET HIM! '  ALL THE VIRGINS AROSE AND TRIMMED THEIR LAMPS AND THE FOOLISH SAID TO THE WISE ,'GIVE US SOME OF YOUR OIL FOR OUR LAMPS HAVE GONE OUT' AND THE WISE SAID,' NOT SO LEST WE NOT HAVE ENOUGH FOR OURSELVES. GO YE RATHER TO THEM THAT SELL AND BUY SOME.' AND WHILE THEY WENT TO BUY OIL THE BRIDE GROOM CAME AND THEY THAT WERE READY WENT IN WITH HIM TO THE MARRIAGE FEAST AND THE DOORS WERE SHUT. AFTERWARD THE FOOLISH VIRGINS CAME ALSO SAYING 'LORD, LORD OPEN TO US.' BUT HE ANSWERED AND SAID, ' VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU THAT I KNOW YOU NOT .' WATCH THEREFORE FOR YE KNOW NOT THE DAY NOR THE HOUR THAT THE SON OF MAN COMETH."                                                                                                                       Matthew 25:1-13

The Coming of the Bride Groom

We hear so much about the signs,
Of the times we live in.
Some worry what will happen,
While others scoff and give in,

To temptation when and where,
It shall raise it's head,
Believing as so many do,
There's lots of time to shed,

Bad habits they've acquired o'er time,
And don't feel bad about,
And really see no reason why,
They should do without,

The parties, fun and frolic,
That they enjoy so much,
The men and women that they love,
Forbidden fruits and such;

The prophecies some preach about,
We've heard a hundred years,
And they don't think the time grows short,
They don't believe it's here;

But all too soon the time will come,
They'll sing a different tune.
When the time arrives they'll find they're not,
Prepared to meet The Groom;

So fill your lamps with oil now,
And trim your wicks, make ready;
For no one knows when He will come,
The warnings have been plenty.

He's tarried long to give us time,
No longer can He wait.
If when He comes we're not prepared,
Then it will be too late.

We speak, we preach, we prophecy,
You don't believe it's late;
So when He comes don't be surprised,
That you must face your fate.

Hi Judy, This is so on point and well written. We don't know when he's coming, so it's best to be ready. I must admit I haven't lived in a way like I am prepared. Living like I have to get ready, I need to throw that thinking out the window. Thanks for penning such a write. Have a great day and weekend:-) Alexis

Oh Judy, this is well done my friend, I just hope and pray many hear this word of knowledge from you and ask Jesus the Groom to have mercy on their souls. He is the Savior, as prophesied in Isaiah 53, He fulfilled that prophecy as well as many more concerning His first coming to the earth. He will fulfill His return as well. We need to pray for one another Judy <3 May the oil of the Holy Spirit shine brightly in these dark days in the hope others come to the Light. Even so, maranatha.

Well written Judy, we should prepare for the second coming because no one knows the day or the hour, he'll come like a thief in the night. As you say the warnings are there and yet many ignore them. Tom
