The Colours of My Heart

Pathetic valentine paper hearts
Always red with sing-song verse
But mine is made of rainbow arts
For better and sometimes worse.

When my heart is full and overflows
Family devotion, dear friends, my pets
My heart is hot, it throbs, it glows
With warm golds of autumn sunsets.

And when my poor heart is broken
When it’s hard to get out of my bed
My heart is so heavy, like I’m chokin’
And it’s grey like it’s withered and dead.

Open heart is blue and wide as the sea
Guarded is yellow, be cautious with me.

Very poignant and melancholy, with such beauty that reaches deep and touches the heart with sadness, profound ... I thoroughly enjoyed this, Cindi, and must fav. Blessings to you, my friend, for a joyous holiday! :-) <3

This was kind of sad but really well written Cindi. I love the use of colors to express certain emotions. This moved smoothly and the rhymes were spot on.
