The Color of Loving You

My favorite colors
Were blue and
Red

Blue for calm and
River and storm
An echo of the
Night sky.

Red was for flame and
Anger and
The hesitant second
Before you pressed
Your lips to
Mine.

Red and blue were
My favorite colors
Were.
Now its you
You.

Swirls of everything
Passion, fury,
Confidence.
Swipes of smiles
Teardrop splatters

A jungle of scratches on
A record
Feathers falling
From a dreamcatcher
My mouth pushing words
Off of paper
And tension leaving
Your shoulders.

Now my favorite color
Is hunter green,
Violent purple,
Wood stained picture frame,
And the gold that
Escapes the sun’s
Sleep.

It’s the adventure, the
Experience, the
Courage, the
Color
Of loving
you.
