Goodbyes are the hardest. Knowing when to say goodbye is… | by Halimah Teniola Jamiu | Medium

Sepulchered inside a vaulted night so deep the crow soars alone inside that ebon sky of yours Center arched in space, heaven is filled with stars an so your secret lies across orange-yellow meteors. Encased inside a cold embrace, your imminent last sigh ! . Irreversible as the hour, this cancer has taken a leap and the butterflies of summer, have all but gone away Choral hymns of worship, " Amazing Grace," Foresight ! how I long to keep you here, at least for one more day. Within the cold embrace of death, your inevitable, goodbye !

Hi Vie, and congratulations on your poem's winning spot in Sara's contest. The cold hands of death are foreshadowed with your mention of crows and ebon skies. Wonderful dark imagery..

Dear Rose, your poem is so powerfully yet tenderly poignant. I was especially struck by "Irreversible as the hour" - a chilling verse! Your deep, dark imagery is sadly and achingly beautiful. Indeed, cancer brings one to the cold embrace of death far too soon. Congratulations for your success in Sara's contest. Warmest wishes my poet friend.. ~Susan

Congratulations on placing in my contest. I enjoyed the word choices you choose in your write. From "Sepulchered inside a vaulted night so deep", to the "butterflies of summer, have all but gone away." Cancer has a eternal impact. Thank you for writing.

Dear rose, This is such an evocative and soul stirring take on the prompt! I feel the aching emotions flowing throughout and how you wish for one last moment, as youv mentioned here, its so sad how so many leave due to cancer and many more other reasons. I love your opening lines here as well as how youv written “ an so your secret lies across orange-yellow meteors. Encased inside a cold embrace, your imminent last sigh !” Touching and mystical! And moving! Congratulations on your placement in saras contest! Pleasure reading your poem! A fave this is for me! Sending you light always

Death is man's punishment for sinning. It can never be pleasant. So we strive to be on the right side.
