The Cocktail

Quiet! Listen; Nature calling Her voice so gentle, an ultimate passion So sweet, so tender; so meek, so mild Not in the roars of floods, earthquakes or hurricanes Nor even the call to ease one’s self But a beautiful disaster, closer at heart That brings to mind nostalgic memories Of the wonder of our home called Earth Its orderly splendor, perfection’s rebirth With phenomenon so glorious to behold In distorted occurrences; a story to be told The night is here this morn The moon, this day overcomes the sun Slowly but surely, he takes his steps In a dance so teasingly before her His weight he throws about to annoy her For a few minutes battle to win For a moment of display as the sun’s assassin This day, the first law of creation defiled Permission sought from the Maker above By the sun, the moon, and some hell of brave stars To struggle for some space and time in the sky A scarce ritual in renewal of their forceful friendship Then to return being friendly foes Each apportioned reign, be day or night As nature demands of them As creation requires of them Men and women, old and young All behold this awesome sight In fear though some may be Great curiosity dares them to see Heads held high in reach for the sky Bulging eyes in search; one destination in mind Mouths open in shock of the stunning design Brains work to appreciate the scenario it finds A view of a journey to the sun by the moon A visit not entertained by his host for long The tiny moon, who destructs the king of lights Makes mockery of her to the world at large Such great heroism displayed That bathes the sun in total humiliation Hence, burns furiously than ever In a desperate quest for vengeance And a fearful act of retaliation For a once cherished great a dignity For a now destroyed good a reputation.
