The Coal In the Flame

the coal
in the flames
lights up with regret
that it never got the chance
to become a diamond.

the ashes of the wood
twinkle with dying embers
knowing
that this is the closest thing they have
to a life.

the smoke
glides over the dust of what once was
that was taken
by the flames.

Another very nicely expressed poem. I like your vision in these things. Really cool.
