The Clouds of Life

When we're born and we see for the very first time Our parents amidst glee and the hoping that life's fine We edge into our days fortunate to meld into years Our parents amidst glee and their hoping for no tears As we travel life's road yes unknown forks from day one Our parents amidst thee but knowing it's not all to be fun Amidst our years of growing we become wise to our surrounds Our parents amidst thee when in life it sometimes runs aground It's when our stormy shores tell us of the people we're losing Our parents amidst thee to no comprehend to life's choosing When that day arrives and with whom we've grown we've now lost Our parents amidst thee to meld when life's becomes, exhaust.

A tender reflection on life’s unfolding journey and the losses that gradually shape us. The recurring presence of parents gives the poem a moving sense of love, guidance, and shared vulnerability.

Thank you so much for reading my poem, Alison. I recently visited the grave of my brother for the very first time whom passed away aged 9 in 1969. It was time to go through life's doors to address a fear that I had of going there. Wishing you a lovely Sunday 😊
