The Clock

by Michael J Falotico

                                      I'm dreaming of tomorrow when
                                           I haven't finished today..
My mind is taking steps to a playground
                                              where we can play..
Too much quiet fills my space, the clock
on the wall starts to reflect my face..
I'm listening to a song that calls out my soul..
But all I hear is rain ,as the time takes its toll..

Sometimes I am either living in the future or stuck in the past, missing out on the moments that are here and now. I enjoyed this moment reading your poem.

Well, don't let the rain or the clock keep u inside! Get out in the fresh air! ha ha. The opening lines set a tone of anticipation..fun...nice rhyming. Good rhyming is such a tricky art, I don't care what anyone says. Gwendolen

I plead guilty of "dreaming of tomorrow" when I should be focusing on today, Michael. Those childhood memories creep in and take us to the past as well. Everytime I hear the Eagles "Desperado" or Elton John's "Daniel," I end up crying. They do call out to my soul, but I can brush aside outside noises like rain when I hear them. Stunning poem, dear friend. Love, Carolyn

Sometimes I feel the same way Michael. Always looking ahead and forgetting to live in the present. Good work. Best to you, Diane

A great poem saying much in few words. Perhaps the "the" in the last line can be dropped.
