The 'Chosen' Ones

Are we the most enlightened species…
based on what we’ve done

A planet raped, all hope betrayed,
our passions zero sum

If we’re so smart then why oh why
is getting on so hard

Mistakes rekindled, memory flamed
—our spirits burned and charred
