The Choice

His soul wrestles with release
Entangled in an invisible web

Tormenting his dreams
His courage weak with regret

He could not walk away
He could not simply replace

The one he turned from
The one who set him free within her lover's embrace

Memories casting shadows
Creating future doubt

Distance does not pause him
He continues to reach out

Like a drowning victim
He reaches for her soul

Trying to paint the shadows
Of what they once did know

The familiarity so comforting
The sex so alive

Will he find courage to reunite
Or will he let it die
