Notes About The Poem

'Other' type form Sextain & Where Less Is More

The Chasmed Heart

Soul is weary
Heavy heart's dreary
Breastbone crushing resuscitation
Pressing rhythms flatline
A moldering past
Alas—a day to die for

captivating darkness is upon us, shed and splayed by your pen ... it seems to end with a snickering delight ... dreary I now depart to resume life with a beating heart

Anaya, this does capture the feeling of depression and more than just one bad day. That's something many of us can relate to. Your poem creates the sense of real hopelessness in the reader that reflects just how awful this feeling is. I read this and feel very lucky to be able to find happiness that seems to last and tide over anything unfortunate that happens. It's amazing that when we like ourselves, we can overcome so much and continue to shine and smile! Hope you are well and not afflicted by this deep whole in the heart very often or at all!!!

I read somewhere.."All the promises under the Sun could never buy time, and all that glistens on a wrist in a heartbeat succombs." We suffer silently while coping, through poetry it can be loudly heard. All that glistens ain't gold. I'm fine, it's just poetry dear friend. Wishing you a joyful day!

Emily Dickinson wrote as a minimalist which is what the contest called for. Coping of late--happy with results. Appreciate the fav!

Heartrending and clever--from experience we all have our own individual ways of coping. A sad truth, an indelible part of the human condition. Fave. Good luck, Robert
