The Charm of Winter Interlude
sprinkles of studded snowflakes white
bathe faces in lamplights’ braided glow
anklets of stars shape alleys with solstice delight
breeze plays the flute, gloves touching fires slow
evening strolls among vanishing wet-sprayed dew
of what magic this sagittarian frost paints laces
ripening cups of dripping weeds, eyes radiating blue
bodies stitched in quilts warmed by coiled embraces
while stirrings of pearl doves’ tunes softly ensue
and so, winter descends with a chill and prayer. glory, glory be.
