The Changing Times

There was a time when families had your back, You didn’t rely on the government to take up the slack. We even named them Big Brother but that’s not true, They’re really not blood relation to me or you. Slowly we are being robbed of our dignity and pride, Just shells of our selves, hollow inside. Blindless we march to the beat of their drum, Taking for granted the final outcome. Like lambs to slaughter we hop right along, With no minds of our own as we dance to their song. Used to families and communities worked together as a whole, Loving and caring and respecting each others feelings was part of the goal. But we managed to get over that hurdle and learned disrespect, With children killing children in school what more can we expect? When I was a boy going to school, Respect was a given, it was part of the long lost Golden Rule. If you wanted to pray that to was your choice, But kids today are in limbo with no way to express their voice. It is no more the Governments fault than it is ours, We elect them to lead us and when they don’t, simply take away those powers.
